Help - Maxx Raven DVR - Cannot Get E-mail Alarm to work

Hi. I have just had a CCTV system installed. The engineer set it up with remote viewing etc which all works fine. However, the Maxx Raven DVR has the facility to send e-mails for various events such as the HDD is full or movement has been detected on a given camera. However, I cannot get the e-mail to work. I input the same details as I used to set up sky mail on my smartphone for my sky email account: stmp.tools.sky.com, SSL on, Port 465 etc but when I test the e-mail it says "cannot reach network or DNS is wrong". I am a novice to CCTV and certainly no IT expert and I do not understand how I can be connected to the network to view / record / configure the DVR but cannot use the e-mail. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is very frustrating. Thanks.
