how many kind of alarms ?

Hello all,

 

I finally received my 6 DS-2CD2332-I, and I can say that I'm very happy with the video quality !

 

Now I think of having alarms, and I'm wondering how many kind of alarms exist and how they are sorted.

 

What comes to me:

Information alarms (tells me something's wrong)

1. Email

2. SMS

 

Dissuasive alarms (makes the thief go away)

1. Siren

2. Two ways audio (to speak directly through the camera)

 

 

Do you see more categories/alarms ?

That camera does not have alarm I/O or audio, so no alarms can be set. You can set events based on video motion detection and trigger a channel to record or trigger an FTP or Email but certainly not a siren or audio alert.

Yes I know, my question wasn't about triggers on my cams but how many kind of alarms existed.

 

I'm gonna buy a cam with alarm output to plug a siren into it that will be a start but maybe I can do better to dissuade thieves, no ?

Absolutely, noise does nothing to deter thieves. The best two methods I've seen are a system that fills the enter room with a dense blinding fog in one second, combined with a recording about 2 seconds before the fog is released warning to leave immediately before poison gas is released.

 

The other is blinding strobe lights that disorientate the suspect making it hard to maneuver. Not as cool as the fog where they think they are being poisoned.

Great warning, I'd love to see his face when fog is released, the thief must be scared to death.

Any idea of fog's system cost ?
