What I don't know doesn't hurt me.

I want to eat my chicken without thinking what might be in that video.

KFC here I come.

unless you're talking about health factors.. but staying in line with the thread, your statement is true, what you don't know just hurts animals in ways that can be prevented

Oh. I thought it had to do with filth in your food.

Unfortunately after taking time to view the video I can see that's not the case. I take back my KFC here I come comment.

This kind of cruelty goes beyond just saving money for the humane treatment of animals. Intentional cruelty towards animals or human beings is evil as far as I'm concerned. Animals slaughtered for food are thought of as product and not given any consideration for the pain and suffering they must endure to end up on our plate.

yeah, it's all unnecessary really.. I used to think we needed to eat meat and that it was natural.. but I've done a lot of research and picked the path I found best.. something that doesn't support what's in the link above and something that puts me on the way to be the healthiest I could ever be.. if anyone has any questions let me know!

I admire you for your ability to be a vegan.

Anybody that has that amount of self-discipline deserves to be commended.

I on the other hand do have to eat meat. It's hard enough for me to avoid sugar let alone meet.

Jack in the box tacos are always good for compromise.

nah, c'mon now, it's easy.. they make fake meats that are a good start to it, they don't taste exactly like meat, but they're pretty good.. and the way I look at it is that I don't really want it to taste exactly like meat anyway.. as long as it's good and filling then I don't care..

I used to be an avid meat eater, but I turned that around in one day, anyone can do it

MorningStar stuff is alright, I can't eat it now though because 95% of Morningstar products have eggs and/or dairy in them.. but fake meats are a good start

Morningstar Fakin is real good, the sausage flavor reminds me of stove top stuffing but I'm really not sure why.. it'd be better with maple syrup probably.. I recently bought some LiteLife fake bacon but have yet to try it, most of LiteLife stuff is vegan.. LiteLife fake pastrami with vedalia onion, mustard on pumpernickle bread reminds me exactly of a liverwurst and onion sammich

hard to find that stuff down here ... and when you do, it costs an arm, a leg, and a thigh ..

but it's not a requirement in a vegan/vegetarian diet, just something for an easy transfer to one.. veggies, beans, nuts, grains etc will always be available everywhere.. I rarely do fake meats anymore.. most of my diet consists of veggies, spices, breads, pasta, grains, beans and spices.. and some tofu

veggies are horible down here ... they spray them with insecticide in the food stores at night time ... ive been cursed cause i used to do alarm service calls for the 2 major food stores here so i could never eat anything anymore unless it is sealed good, after seeing what takes place behind the scene .. our health dept is non existent here FYI ..

grow a garden? if they do that with the veggies, God only knows what they do to the meat.. your place sounds scary with all the taxes and shipping fees and port fees or whatever you call them, and now insecticides.. I'd move

I hate veggies.

They were forced on me as a child and never grew to like them after that.

Everybody who eats them regularly seems to be real healthy. Look at Jack LaLane. He is my role model.

Too bad I can’t do anything he can.

I like cereal and nuts. No peanut butter huh?

Most people can’t even do a regular diet let alone quit eating meat.

That’s why I said you are doing an admirable thing because there aren’t too many people that have been able to do it.

when i was living in the US i lived at Health Food stores, soy this that and everything, and tons of vitamins, i was healthy as ever ... but here there is but 1 health store, or maybe 2, in the ghetto somewhere, and they are too expensive for general consumption, regular food is too expensive here! Why do you think that Popular Bahamian food contains alot of rice (and fried chicken) .. its cheap.

Please no videos of cattle being slaughtered. I want to be able to eat something without picturing some animal being tortured.

But I can’t avoid meat either. I am getting hungry for a hamburger or Taco just talking about this stuff. I had a protien drink ealier but even that has animal by products in it.

you can cook veggies and get rid of bacteria too, but insecticides and bacteria are 2 different things, insecticides can be normally washed off, but I still try to avoid that..

diets high in soy can create problems too, thats why I lean more towards veggies and beans where possible.. I like health stores but I've never taken any vitamins at all, I've never really liked them..

the Bahamas sounds scary with all it's expenses and stuff, I don't think I ever want to go there anymore..

and all of the healthiest people have been vegetarians and/or vegan, and even some of the smartest.. Lance Armstrong and Albert Einstein are the only ones I can think of right now.. even the healthiest dog to ever live was vegan, it lived to be 27 years old in Sweden or somewhere and had a strict vegan diet..

and videos of cattle being slaughtered are nothing compaired to the fur trade videos.. those are HORRIBLE.. when I became vegetarian the videos were what caught my attention, but the facts were what made me change

one day we might have farming and not have to import everything .. one day

Someone built a huge green house to do just that, not sure if it is in production yet, see the sun is too strong and everything is generally too dry ..

If you did come, Long Island (an outisland) is beautiful, but it is a real outisland, so yeah food is mostly fresh fish and then everything else is imported .. no crime at all there though .. family kind of island .. everyone is related, most of the outislands are like that .. but nothing to do there to live, unless you are a fisherman. .

I actually love veggies ... just dont trust them here after what I have seen.

Well i guess there are always the frozen veggies .. i gotta start cooking again anywayz ..

Acutally I can handle veggies if they are steamed.

I will have to give it a try again. Everybody I ever met that ate a lot of veggies was very healty.
