mushys 0 Posted February 25, 2014 Can anyone tell me if there are any CONS or PROS by choosing a 24v AC over 240v for the folling IR lamp? http://geniecctv.com/product/ir-illuminator-4/ Thanks in advance
ssnapier 0 Posted February 25, 2014 It looks to me like that particular light is a dual voltage light meant to run on standard grid voltage. The only real difference is that the 24VAC lights would require a power supply to provide that voltage, while this model would simply be plugged or tied in to an existing circuit with no other hardware. mushys 0 Posted February 25, 2014 Thanks for the reply. So there's no main advantage going either way?
ssnapier 0 Posted February 25, 2014 There is no performance advantage, but one requires an extra piece of hardware and one just requires some wire.... if you are doing more than one and can power them all from one power unit, it is really a toss up.
mushys 0 Posted February 25, 2014 Ok thanks. It's just that the retailer contacted me after an online purchase offering me the 24v version and I wasn't to sure as to why.
ssnapier 0 Posted February 25, 2014 It is possible that the 24v version is slightly cheaper too.
joseph.chen0312 0 Posted February 26, 2014 The is generic electric power AC Adapter and for those consumpte high power its commonly be equipped than 12VDC, 24VAC or dual power for insufficient power to drive LED ON.
