bought a new 960h system , what cameras to buy?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys , bought a new 960H system and wondering what are the best cameras for 960H?

if a 960h dvr records at 960x576 should i buy a camera with as close to that resolution as I can get to get the best picture quality? or do I have the wrong idea?

got this system on sale for $109 which is about the cheapest i could find up here in canada

since it only has two cameras i was thinking of buying these to add to the system since the resolution of these cameras is as close to 960H res as I could find:

In Canada, you set NTSC and 960(horizontal width) X 480 (vertical line) on your camera as well as your dvr. 576 Line is for PAL.

The TVL number greater than 650 could be targeting 960H. 960H is based on the newer sensor(may be solely from Sony) and newer image signal processor chip(eFFIO and some new other chip), so most likely to have a better quality than old conventional D1(say, 720 X480) camera.

But always remember that the good quality lens decides 90% of the video quality. You can guess Lens quality from German, Japan, Korea, and China, in this order.

960H is analog camera. So you may have to check before hand the cameras that you select should output 960H CVBS format.

Over 800 TVL may be designed for HD sensors which have different type of transmission of Video Data Captured, say HD-SDI, IP Camera, HD-CVI. These may cost you more and more complicated when installing and using its software and hardware.
