Where should we turn to. for major brands like Pelco,and sony? We know ADI very well (not the best prices around) and we also used a dealer on the west coast that promised us the world. but we soon found out that they promised everyone the best prices and could never ship a item on time.

what about Northern Video? Ive heard alot about them, or even maybe Systems Depot? You want to hook up with companies that buy in bulk, and buy from them basically. Even if you dont buy everything from the same person, buy from whoever specialises in the products so you get the best support. Also check on buying from the manufacturer reps or even the manufacturers direct. Short of support, i know what you mean, you want someone that practically stocks the items or at least can red label the stuff to you ASAP .. thats why i started buying up north instead of Miami which is closer to me, service is just better up north.

There are alot of distributers out there as far as shipping on time...that is something the manufactures control...distributers are just the middle man. I get blamed for backorders and misshipments all the time and I am constantly telling customers that I have no control of when an item ships. Unless the distributer has the item you order on the shelf they are at the mercy of the manufactures. The worse part about it is when the manufacture tells you its in stock then I tell my customer who usually had imeto get approval from the end user then an hour or sometimes the nxt day its get ordered and either the item is no longer in stock or the manufacture didn't tell you it has to be assembled first so I usually end up paying red freight and then fighting the manufacturer to reimburse me.

Our problem is that our former supplier would tell us that THEY had the item in stock and or could make sure that it could ship out same day. You know whats funny if we had a qoute in writing ADI would match it (we saved $300 on a dvr once) If you dont say anything to ADI they wouldn't give you the best deal they could

Ya that sucks when it happens, it doesn't happen alot but s%#t happens. With my luck it's usually happens with new customers or when it absolutely has to ship that day.

Well the problem is that ADI wouldnt give you the best deal but sure well get you the item. We have not found a wholesaler that can ship/ and have everything thing in stock like ADI ....but..... your going to pay for service like that

I think that this is a discussion that should be moved to the Dealer Section, you guys are talking about suppliers to us, so that every end-user in the world can see it.

I dealt with the Houston, TX hub of ADI for several years before giving up on them. My own experience with them, wholesaler or not was mixed. They where not very consistant in their actions. Price fluctuations, miss-sent orders, backorders all were a problem. I also had several price/availability checks that wound up getting shipped a month after the job was completed. It got to be a joke between my and my UPS guy. Granted, it was usually on hot items like Pelco camclosures, but the irony was that small fries, online distros had them in stock and cheaper.
