TexasDon 0 Posted March 11, 2014 If I get the Dahua NVR set up on site, Will I be able to log into it directly and complete camera setup? If all setup, will I be able to remotely change / update settings? I don't know what to expect as far as being able to config reset update when on site, as the sites are remote, even though they have internet. Thank you. shockwave199 0 Posted March 11, 2014 Everything can be adjusted remotely too. Are you using a POE nvr, or are the cameras going to be on a separate POE switch?
TexasDon 0 Posted March 11, 2014 Thanks for the quick reply. I am looking at the one with the built in POE, but I dont know if it will allow me to remotely log in and power cycle a camera, or I guess even all of them. Do you know if that is a possibility? I don't want to ever have to park myself in front of the NVR after initial setting. I need to be able to configure and maintain remotely. Either by logging into the web browser or its own software. Will I be able to use the web interface to add cameras? It sounds odd I know, so by explanation, I am the "brains", no really I am... I use a wheelchair so after setup., I need to do it all remotely. After we get it installed, it will be up to me. I have a guy who can mount and run cable, but not much more than that. I will pre-configure the whole set, including new routers, and he will take it to site and connect. I have been using PC based which I would just login remotely. I had access to cameras, settings, etc. Now I am making the jump to IP Cams. My choices are to get an NVR - looking strongly at the Dahua, OR, refub computers. I have the comfort level built in with the PC based, but would really like to go with NVR. I need 3 sets of devices for 3 sites, and a total of 12 cams. I would just like to know that all would be well remotely with NVR. I hope this makes sense. Thank you again.

It is best to set up as much as you can locally. But between the dahua nvr's web service interface for remote access, and PSS software which is even more full featured, you have all the control to remotely tweak any setting you may want to, after the fact. The only slight drawback to poe nvr's is that once the cameras are hooked up to it, you can no longer access their own web interface. It's all done through the nvr. Some people prefer to adjust the camera within it's own web interface rather than through the nvr. Also, it's a thought that if a poe channel dies in the nvr you're stuck with it, whereas using a non-poe nvr with a separate poe switch for the cameras power and networking is more flexible and easier to manage. POE nvr's are for simple plug and play and they can be great. I installed a four channel dahua poe nvr last year in a daycare center with a monitor attached to get everything going and set, and then by the clients request, I took the monitor out when I was done and anything further I've tweaked along the way for him has been remotely. But while you're there at your installs, you want to make sure the cameras are up and looking good and aimed perfectly, and you want to make sure you have your networking set right. Then you can leave and tweak remotely all you want. These guys have a bevy of vids to look at. It's not that I'm pushing them to buy from. It's just that they have a ton of demo vids. This one shows the web interface for a dvr, but is identical to a dahua nvr. Also search youtube for PSS demos to get a feel for that remote software, which is much deeper and more full featured.
