SSSlippy 0 Posted March 14, 2014 I currently planning a system where we will be using hikivision DS-2CD2732F-I dome and bullet cameras. DVR we are going to use follows onvif standard and is an Dahua. I am trying to find a camera that is can possibly do 15FPS or higher. Camera needs to be outdoor and I am trying to get as high as quality picture of vehicles coming down a driveway and if we are lucky a license plate. Sadly its going to be at least 30-50 feet off due to physical building layout. Can anyone make a recommendation?
buellwinkle 0 Posted March 14, 2014 The only camera I know of that can do 5MP at 15fps is the ACTi cameras like the E33 but low light quality will be disappointing compared to a 3MP camera. You can always add more lighting to make it better. The best 5MP camera I tested is the Axis P3367-VE, very good low light image quality at 5MP but only 12fps and no IR LEDs, not sure if that was a requirement. A good name brand illuminator may cost about $900. The same from China maybe $40, but may only last a few months, so just get a bunch and swap out as needed, LOL. I'm afraid whatever 5MP solution you go with, you may not be happy without some external lighting.

That's a very good camera. And 15fps is plenty to get tags on cars moving less than 40mph.

You don't need frame rate for clear image, you need fast shutter. I used IQeye IQ7XX series for LPR instalations and everything worked great.
