Can I by-pass built-in POE Ports on Lorex NVR?

Recommended Posts

I have an Lorex LNR360 NVR (16 channel) which I understand is the same as the Hikvision 761616NI-SE NVR. It has 8 built-in POE ports and then comes with a separate 8 Port POE switch to add the remaining cameras.

Do you know if its possible to by-pass all the built-in POE ports on the NVR and just have a 16 channel switch that I can assign to all the cameras from the network? In looking at the configuration on the NVR I can't figure out how to assign a camera connected to the separate switch to cameras 1-8.

I was about to call them but I think I figured it out. You have to disable the "Plug and Play" option on the camera and set it to manual and then just enter the IP address of the camera. It then assigns the camera to the built in ports.

This will allow me to run all my cables to one location where my switch will be and then have my NVR in a separate location.
