Picture flicker on all cams with Ir on 12v 4a Psu?

Recommended Posts

Hi all new to this forum & quite new to cctv setup,

I am using 1 old Dvr unit & a sunluxy dvr system with up to 5 cameras & only use the setup in dark locations.

Both units have perfect picture without the camera Ir's on but as soon as all lights go out Ir's come on & all the pictures flicker as if the power drain is causing picture loss, although when we watch back recordings are clear but I need the view live option.

The Camera Psu is 12v 4a running 4 cameras, any additional cams are on separate psu, each camera has at least 20m of bnc/power extension cable (but this is only cheap extensions)

Any input would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

I'd guess either a weak psu or super cheap cables causing too much voltage drop. The test is easy. Buy a good cable and see if that cam still goes wonky. If no, then buy more good cables. If yes, then try another power supply with more juice than the camera ratings say. You might also unplug a cam or two and see if the remaining cams behave better.
