lot of light from street light. Setting question

One of my cameras get a LOT of light from a street light about 40 feet away from where one of my cameras is. I cant move the camera so I am wondering is it best to leave it in color mode full time. BW seems to really struggle due to so much light

try it... It's not like it's any work to change a setting.

I prefer color mode at night when there's enough light, as there's improved contrast due to more colors. One of my Dahuas stays in color mode for the same reason you mention, and it works well for me.

Could be a huge mistake. First understand the light makes the picture look good, but the problem it's backlighting your subject which may between your camera and the street light. Without the IR light, the suspect will look like a silhouette.
