ramformer 0 Posted April 3, 2014 Hi, I am completely new to cctv, in fact I am installing a setup at my home, I am not a professional installer or anything like that so please forgive my lack of technical knowledge. OK, I bought a setup that had been removed from a business, the setup comprises a BBV TX1000 telemetry controller and attached keyboard with joystick, I have two Dedicated Micros 2060 domes and one Dennard Powerdome. I did get a Vista DVR too. OK, I have completely refurbished the dome housings and finally got around to testing the setup but I cannot seem to get any activity from the cameras. I have fitted a BNC connector to the pigtail from the camera (for UTC control), attached to the controller and patched to the monitor but I get no picture and cannot see any activity from the dome when I select the camera and move the joystick. The monitor shows nothing but scrolling lines but I do see a flicker when I drive the joystick. I have checked the addresses on the Dennard dome cameras (extremely difficult to actually see the address number/letter on the blue and yellow rotary switches). I have downloaded manuals and am getting confused. I am not sure if I should have the settings at Blue F, Yellow D (as the Dedicated Micros manual states for Dennard protocol, or Blue 0 and Yellow 1, for external controllers. Also, do I need to terminate the power and control twisted pairs that are also in the pigtail with the coax ? I believe that the setup was UTC when previously installed so would have thought that the camera protocols would be set already. I cannot get any information from the original installer etc. Any pointers here would be great. Also, when I have tested the cameras successfully and come to install, I have purchased a reel of RG6 u co-azial cable as I have read I will get a better signal than the more common RG59, is that a good enough solution ? jazzar 0 Posted June 22, 2014 from looking at the camera manual and the bbv tx1000 manual. I would think you need the switches set for EXTERNAL PROTOCOL CONVERTORS which will be BLUE=0, YELLOW= 1. if you just apply 24v AC (NOT DC) to pin 5 (blue) and pin 6 (red) and connect the video signal onto your monitor without going through the tx1000 unit you should get a picture- this will let you know that the cameras are providing a picture. then you need to connect the keyboard data wires gnd/tx and rx to the tx1000 main unit- this sends the control signals to the main unit, then the main unit should convert the data and send it up the co-ax to each camera. connect the co-ax inputs from the cameras onto the main tx1000 box and check if you have control. SUMMARY:- so data from kybd to main unit is rs232 (needs to be wired correctly), then data from main unit to cameras is up the co-ax, power to camera is 24v AC.
