lucky888 0 Posted January 18, 2006 As i try to figure out more and test my new Geovision card, i have these questions because i can't figure them out yet: Scheduling: i added a test schedule and run it. i have questions and problems. A test schedule is run and i accessed webview and logged in but it says "No Privileges", if i turn off the schedule run then i can view the feed. is the problem has to do with configuration somwhere or that's how it works. Additional about scheduling, once you schedule it, i don't see a button anywhere allows me to delete a schedule, only modifying. ???? Recycling: i am right by default Geovsion recycles the backup every 30 days??? how does the recycle process work? if i would like to delete certain recording files, there is no function to deleted under Video/Audio log, is this where you delete stuffs or are you allowed to do it at all? rory 0 Posted January 18, 2006 On the first part, do you have REMOTE checked? The other part .. use the delete button on the keypad. Recycling as i understand it, is basically overwrite, so when it gets to the end of the HDD it goes back to the beginning and overwrites - otherwise when it gets to the end it would just stop. lucky888 0 Posted January 18, 2006 thank you for the delete part. so there is no recyclying configuration, the software will do it automatically which is fine. i have 300GB and 220Gb is reserved for it, would this cover it for a month at least i wonder? please help me to understand the recording part. which is the normal process of recording? if i click on "Start Monitoring All" button, it starts recording it right away. i guess this would start the process and it would record till you tell it to stop. is this how you do it? the other option would be you set the schedule and it would just record according to the schedule. it would stop when it is done. rory 0 Posted January 18, 2006 If you have the camera set to round the clock then it will start recording right away, if it is set to motion then it records only on motion. Yep when you stop it, no recording will take place.
lucky888 0 Posted January 18, 2006 am i understanding you right? i should have it set recording around the clock and not to worry about the hard disk space. the program is smart enough to recycle it if it is out of space. i don't need to schedule even because i don't see any use there. rory 0 Posted January 18, 2006 Round the clock is simply continuous/time lapse, motion detection will give you longer recordings. Either way you record, if you click Recycle it will go back to the beginning of the Hard Drive/Folder span and start again. If anything you may want to look at the Day Night record function, but typically i just use motion record. I dont know how the "keep for # of days" works but i imagine it will just stop when it runs out of space even if the 30 days are not up yet. (never used it). Maybe some of the old timer Geo users can pitch in here. Basically all DVRs (just about all of them) give you the option to loop when the Disk Space is full, and they record over the oldest data first. They have different names, in this case it is Recycling.
Jasper 0 Posted January 18, 2006 I'm not an old-timer but you're right about how the recycle works. Except it except it won't stop recording. If your hard drive fills up before the 30 day time limit GEO will begin overriding the earliest video first and progressing on. It's just a feature that gives you more flexibility but you probably won't need to worry about your recycle time and less you set it significantly lower than 30 days. lucky888 0 Posted January 18, 2006 it sounds like the recycle process is automated therefore i do not need to schedule it. i would have it run around the clock without worrying about lack of hard disk space since it is recycled itself.
Jasper 0 Posted January 18, 2006 Yep. You just want to make sure you have the recycle checked otherwise when the hard drive(s) fill up, no more recording.
