pwnm30rdi3 0 Posted April 8, 2014 Hey everyone, I have 4 families that live in close proximity in a high end condominium. Each of them want 2 cameras, making a total of an 8 camera system. Obviously each family's 2 cameras would be wired to their router but then how would I set-up a centralized storage option? I was thinking a Qnap NAS would be nice, is it possible to connect all 8 cameras to this system with 4 different networks? Or does each home need it's own NAS? Thanks guys! dexterash 0 Posted April 8, 2014 A NAS has limited functionality. Do they share the same ISP? How do they connect to it?
pwnm30rdi3 0 Posted April 9, 2014 I believe the building offers 2 ISPs. Some have fiber optic and others have broadband. I guess the 4 channel NAS from Qnap wouldn't be too expensive. I was just wanting to cut down on material costs as much as possible!
buellwinkle 0 Posted April 9, 2014 Why not just record locally on an SD card for each camera, keep them separate. Why would one neighbor want to allow access to their recordings to another neighbor, don't get it. Since each condo likely has it's own router, hence it's own WAN address, you can access the cameras external to your network as you would any external device. So your cameras would write to your recording device, the other cameras would reference the recording device by your WAN address/port number.
