-DON- 0 Posted April 16, 2014 Hi I want to setup a cctv surveillance for my home on my own. So first I want to start with one cctv camera and then increase the number. I have an analog camera, laptop with linux and zoneminder installed. The camera has AV output with a 12V DC power input. I am confused how to setup this analog camera to my laptop so that I can use zoneminder to process/record videos. As I don't need to record all time, so I don't want to get any dedicated DVR/ expensive converter to convert analog to ip camera. I was thinking if anyway AV output signal can be carried through CAT5/coaxial cable and use converter like BNC to USB or use RJ45 to connect to my laptop. Is it possible? Please help me with some information so that I can connect this camera with minimum expense. Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
SunnyKim 2 Posted April 16, 2014 Check "USB -DVR" at internet market. It can support 4 cameras in CIF video size or 1 camera in D1 size. The manufacturer supplies all the softwares that you may need for utilizing your laptop-windows.
