Trouble with auto iris control on Honeywell controller

I'm a noob at my job and with all of this security equipment, so let me know if I've broken any rules or left out any important info...

 

I do loss prevention for a chain of supermarkets and we recently upgraded to some newer PTZ camera controllers (joysticks). The DVR we're using at this location is a Honeywell HRXD DVR and the controller is a Honeywell HJC4000. After an hour or so of messing with it and talking with tech support, I finally got the controller hooked up and got it to control all the PTZ cameras. It's connected through rs485 and the camera protocol is KD6 (I think?).

 

The problem is, any time you move any of the cameras there's a bad lens flare (I think that's what it's called) that makes the screen go bright white, so much so, that you can't really tell what you're looking at anymore. You have to manually decrease the iris control or slightly tap the joystick until it manages to correct itself. This is a huge problem because it makes it almost entirely impossible for you to watch/follow people on the cameras. While the camera is not moving you can use the manual iris control to correct the problem, but it happens again as soon as you move the camera.

 

I've gone all through the user manual for the HJC4000 and can find nothing other than sending an "auto iris" command, which doesn't do anything to help. I've also called Honeywell tech support and talked to them about it and they told me that there's nothing I can do, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were wrong because they've given me incorrect information before.

 

So my question is, does anyone in this forum know of any possible solution to help fix this? We just spend hundreds on these new joysticks and they're pretty much completely unusable at the moment. I don't know much about video systems, but it would seem like disabling auto-iris control might help the problem, but I can't find any option anywhere in the manual or in the HJC4000's menu settings to toggle that on/off.

 

If anyone has any ideas or could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
