Please help with my install choice!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Im planning installing my first CCTV system. I was initially looking at kit all-in-one box solutions and came across:

Swann:

Nightwatcher:

http://www.cctvhub.co.uk/nightwatcher-8-channel-1tb-plug-and-play-cctv-system-kit-with-4-x-700-tvl-cameras.html

However, I have read many negatives on these cheap all-in-one-box sysetms, so thought it maybe better to buy the components seperatley (please advise if any of the above are infact any good!)

I *think* I will be better off with:

-8 Channel D1 DVR (to allow for future expansion)

-Sony 1/3" CCD camera's 700TVL

Link to cameras im considering: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-3-SONY-CCD-700TVL-48LED-IR-NIGHT-VISION-SURVEILLANCE-CCTV-SECURITY-CAMERA-6mm-/121217121188?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item1c391a7ba4

My big question is re the DVR. The harddrive less eBay chinese made ones seems ok on paper, however, im confused re the FPS, they state 1-25fps - could it mean that 1 camera will be 25, then it splits down as more are added, i.e. 2 camera would record at 12.5fps and so on?

This seems like excellent value http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-Channel-CCTV-DVR-Internet-Full-D1-H264-HDMI-Digital-Video-Recorder-UK-Stock-/301121952131?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item461c445983

Can any one advise re D1 DVR's bought from ebay please?

My other question is, do the DVR's supply the power to the cameras somehow?

Many thanks in advance,
