groundlooping on tv screen

Hi everyone

 

sorry if this problem i have as been discussed before but here goes

i believe its called groundlooping. that i have i will post a short video of whats happening on my tv screen.i have tried a few things to try to resolve this issue.

they is 8 cameras in use .i have unplugged them all and turned each one on to see which camera or if it was all of them but it made no difference.

i was using power adapters to each camera and i was told maybe one or all of these may be causing the issue. so i put the cameras to one power adapter but the problem is still there.its been suggested that i need ground loop isolaters to each camera. do you think this will help or can someone suggest something else i can try. or is it a case of just put up with it. any help appreiciated.

It looks more like electrical interference to me than ground loops. You say nothing about what type of cable you are using. A common source of this type of interference is fluoro lights or noisy switch mode power supplies

i do have fluorscent lights in the room and the cables do run alongside the light cables.

i'm using pre made bnc to phono. from the cameras to the multiplexer. i was using individual power adapters to each camera. but i changed to one main power adapter. using bnc video dc cable to each camera.

if it is a case of the lights effecting the picture .i take that the isolaters will be no good and won't make any difference.

so without moving all the cables about is there anything i can do to better the picture quality.

In my experience a lot of those pre-made cables are extremely low quality cable, and that means that have extremely low quality shielding. I would get some quality siamese cable and either terminate them yourself or for a worst case scenario you could use some of these just to see if the issue resolves itself:

what would be the least distance the cables could be from the lighting cable. one other thing all the lights go out at night i have them on a timer switch. but i still have the problem on the tv.

Typically you want to be a minimum of 18 inches away if you are running parallel... more is better.

i simply unplugged the power leads that i previously add the camera power adapters plugged into and hey presto no more interference . so again thank you. although it wasn't a big issue its made a huge difference to the picture quality,

I'm not even sure what you're saying you fixed. What did you do that helped?

Sounds like he dropped power off the cameras. I suppose that would get rid of the problem:)

sorry about that. you seen the video and the problem i was getting .well i thought ground looping . till it was suggested electrical interference. so i did a bit of unplugging and found the cause.

for each camera i was using i add individual power adapters plugged into power sockets close by the cameras. i changed this to one individual power supply to all the cameras. at first this made no difference. until i turned the power supply of to the power sockets that i add used for the power adapters . then the inteference went away.
