Been experiencing vandalism and criminal damage to my flat front door which is accessed via an indoor communal stairwell so looking for a covert system (thinking smoke detector camera would be best). Ideal placement would be 4-5 metres from front door which means I could drill through my wall into lounge for power supply. I'm top floor so access to loft void may be possible for cables. I'd like a motion detector system which records onto a hard drive so maintenance is not needed for weeks or even months. Wireless systems I have seen don't seem to have good battery life.
