Camera: Min. Illumination: Color: 0. 1LUX/F1.2, B/W: 0.005LUX/F1.2; 0LUX/F1.2(IR on) - 0.1Lux means it needs some light? What is F1.2? Max. IR LEDs Length: 20M Lens: 2.8mm/3.6mm/6mm optional - When to pick 2.8mm, 3.6mm and 6mm lens? ONVIF: 2.0 S/N Ratio: >50dB - What does S/N mean and which values are good? Gain Control: Auto/Manual - What does this affect in a camera? Max Aperture: F1.8(F2.0/F1.8/F1.8 ) - How will camera react to different values? Angle of View: H: 46°(70°/35°) - What are the values in brackets? Resolution: 1.3M(1280×960) / 720P(1280×720) / D1(704×576) / CIF(352×288) Frame Rate Main Stream: 1.3M(1~15fps)/720P(1 ~ 25/30fps) Sub Stream: D1/CIF(1 ~ 25/30fps) - What is main and sub stream? What do values in brackets mean?(Is it 1 to 15 fps?) Up to 4 channel with 1080P realtime live view - Does it mean when viewing a camera it will yield 1080p picture at 30fps? Max 120fps@1080p, 240fps@720p,480fps@D1 preview & recording - Does this mean that with 4 cameras @ 1080p the recording and viewing will be 30fps (120fps/4cameras)? Multiple network monitoring: Web viewer, CMS(DSS/PSS) & DMSS - What is DSS/PSS and DMSS NVR: Resolution: 1920×1080, 1280×1024, 1280×720, 1024×768 - How is this different from camera's resolution specs? Record Rate:400/480fps@D1, 200/240fps@720P , 100/120fps@1080P - Why recording values here different? Why does camera even have recording specs? Doesn't NVR do the recording? This is the sensor size behind the lens, yes that is fine and pretty standard. Effective Pixels: 1280x960 - What does effective pixels mean? Without getting too nerdy this is the pixels you can see on screen produced by the camera. Camera: Min. Illumination: Color: 0. 1LUX/F1.2, B/W: 0.005LUX/F1.2; 0LUX/F1.2(IR on) - 0.1Lux means it needs some light? What is F1.2? .1 Lux is virtually no light and F1.2 is referring to the F-stop of the lens, go read up on F-stop on a photography forum, it will make sense after that. it basically has to do with depth of field. Max. IR LEDs Length: 20M Lens: 2.8mm/3.6mm/6mm optional - When to pick 2.8mm, 3.6mm and 6mm lens? The larger the number, the more narrow the field of vision. You can see thing farther away, just not as wide. The smaller number means you can see a much wider field of view but far less detail as you get farther away. ONVIF: 2.0 S/N Ratio: >50dB - What does S/N mean and which values are good? You want this to be auto, manual is only really useful when constantly monitoring a camera with the ability to correct it. See above about the lens sizes, these are the horizontal fields of view as they correlate to each lens size. It just means the DVR can output a 1080P image, but the camera images themselves will be whatever resolution it produces. Max 120fps@1080p, 240fps@720p,480fps@D1 preview & recording - Does this mean that with 4 cameras @ 1080p the recording and viewing will be 30fps (120fps/4cameras)? Yup, 100% correct Multiple network monitoring: Web viewer, CMS(DSS/PSS) & DMSS - What is DSS/PSS and DMSS CMS = Central Management Station, the rest are names for Dahua specific applications, DMSS is their mobile app. NVR: Resolution: 1920×1080, 1280×1024, 1280×720, 1024×768 - How is this different from camera's resolution specs? Lower resolution provides more frame rates since it requires less processing power. This is a common thing across nearly all equipment.
