CoolDude 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Any problems with turning a stand alone DVR on its end and stand it up like a tower computer? Thanks
VST_Man 1 Posted January 26, 2006 as long as you don't cover any air flow vents....and also no CD drive.....
kandcorp 0 Posted January 27, 2006 Some CD drives have no problem on there side. And to tell you the truth from my experiences I would keep the DVR on its bottom. Older hard drives always had specific requirements for mounting while most modern hard drives can be mounted in any orientation. Some modern hard drives still have mounting restrictions; the only way to be sure is to read the documentation that comes with the drive or contact the manufacturer directly and ask. Restrictions may be model specific so be sure you know the exact model number of your drive. A common misconception is that it is always safe to mount the circuit board side up, this is not the case. When in doubt, look it up. Failure to follow the mounting instructions can result in a shortened lifetime. So, depending how the HDD's sit in the DVR that would give you your answer. Just make sure the PCB isnt facing up.
