phlight 0 Posted July 2, 2014 Disclaimer: I'm a lone IT guy who has had the camera system put in my lap so I'm by no means an expert. I've only tested first hand a few pieces of software (Blue Iris, Geovision, Huperlabs and some non-PC based option) and they all seem to have some quirks that make it non-user friendly for the end user. In the case of Huperlabs it would show live video yet wouldn't be saving at times. Ahh! Is there a resource that I can test out various software platforms without needing to install them all on my own equipment? I'm afraid there isn't so perhaps I can get some recommendations. Software wishlist Low cost (sub $500 per location) Support for analog cards (up to 16) User friendly Easy recovery of old footage. Often we have cases where we need to scan through 8+ hours of footage quickly to find something afterwards. It's been a PITA so far. Bonus feature wishlist Doesn't require software installation on the client. Java/HTML5/Flash based perhaps. Alternatively msi files for easy deployment. Support for multiple locations (this typically costs a lot) Multiple users...Active Directory support?!? Universal hardware support to avoid being locked in to certain hardware. I haven't been able to kick the tires on Blue Iris too much as I need a compatible analog capture card (recommendations welcome). It seems like a software option that gives you a good bang for your buck. Thanks in advance.

Genetec (expensive) has a great cloud based solution for this and it may fit under the $500 per location (if that means per camera location). If you mean an entire site, are you just going with multiple dvr cards at each location and then have those machines connected to the network?
phlight 0 Posted July 2, 2014 For any new cameras we'll be going IP but we still have analog cameras to support. They are currently accessed via huperlab software. I want to hook them up to a new capture card in a new system. When I say location I'm referring to an entire site. Are you just going with multiple dvr cards at each location and then have those machines connected to the network? -Yes

TheUberOverLord 0 Posted July 13, 2014 Depending on what you are trying to do? This will work with any IP Camera brands and models or imaging devices, that support pulling images from the IP Camera or imaging device, using HTTP or HTTPS URL access methods from any Internet browser capable device without the need to first download/install anything. It can be customized as needed to add additional IP Camera controls and/or IP Camera configuration control settings and there are working live demos showing totally secure and unsecure examples. Meaning unsecure ("Accessing the IP Camera directly and exposing the IP Camera or imaging devices IP Address/DDNS, Port and potentially the IP Cameras User Credentials or totally secure ("Using a server as a front end proxy. Not exposing any information of any kind about the location or anything else about the IP Camera or imaging device. Making the IP Camera or imaging device totally Anonymous"). Your choice. There are a total of 19 live demo cameras here. Where you can see both the unsecure and secure versions as working examples in real-time: http://foscam.us/forum/showing-secure-methods-using-php-to-display-your-ip-cameras-t8721.html As you can see by the above working examples. You can customize which if any IP Camera controls you wish to allow and also easily support using a User Id and Password for access to the Interface that has nothing to do with the IP Cameras user credentials. What's important to note is that this Interface supports both HTTP and HTTPS access methods. Even for IP Cameras that do not natively support HTTPS access methods themselves. Because the Interface supports any Internet browser capable device, with or without using a server as a front-end proxy. It has no Operating System, Browser based limitations or dependencies on additional software that must be present or installed to use it. This becomes important especially more so when you wish to concurrently monitor different IP Camera brands and/or models at the same time from any Internet browser capable device and also be able to quickly access them individually as needed. As the Examples demonstrate. Don
