Numb-nuts 1 Posted July 12, 2014 Today I nearly tore my remaining hair out at the roots. It was the very first attempt at an EE brightbox router with a fiber connection. Port checking tools reported the port as open and then not and then some open and some not. Being my first attempt I read the EE brightbox port forwarding guide and it all made sense to me, so I followed their recommended procedure exactly Did it work? Not abit of it.... Finally after fartars*ng around all day I realized that it would not allow a computer logging into the router to return through the router. So effectively I required a LOCAL settings for the remote client software using the local IP of my DVR and a second set of settings (for remote use) from outside of the LAN and using my DDNS Hostname. I don't think I have experienced this before so I thought I'd report it in case anyone else is confused about whats happening. Does anyone know if there is a setting that should be changed to allow remote access when logged into the same network? I couldn't see anything obvious...
