B digital 0 Posted February 2, 2006 I need a wireless solution for a single camera in the following environment: outdoor w/ perfect line of site reaching 3000+ feet. the only option for mounting the receiver is on the same phone pole with a 2.4ghz iternet dish receiver. I tried the COP brand tx / rx and did actually get an image but it was scrambled and the picture was unusable. Im surprised the generic unit made it that far in the first place, but obviously I need something stronger. Should I invest in a 5.8 ghz unit or is interference not the issue here. Im looking at the microtek minilink 5.8, but it's a bit spendy. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

B digital 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Right. I guess im just a little leary of pitching a 1500.00 peice of gear im not yet familiar with. After all, it's only one camera that needs wireless Tx and the cheap device was pretty close to being acceptable. Would you say that the internet dish would be more of an interference concern if I went for the ML 2.4? Thanks for your help.
rory 0 Posted February 2, 2006 also check out: These guys are very very helpful, also check their forum: Trango http://www.trangobroadband.com/ I'd also say check VideoComm but they take 2 months to get back to yah! Either way, COP wireless gear doesnt come close, i used that originally 5 years or so ago, and threw it all in the garbage after it's 1000' claim on only 150' line of sight didnt work properly, or did so with so much interference ... B digital 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Right. How i got a picture out of the cop unit at 3000 feet ill never understand. Same as rory, Ive had problems getting that same device to work within 200 feet. On another job the guy wanted two of 'em to run parallel to each other. No dice. Even at a 200' spread which was the max. i could go. A total waste of everyones time and he was pissed cuz I was charging by the hour. I told him I was hesitant before i worked on that piece of the project, but he was dead set on it. In the end it still made me look bad. Oh well. BTW, props to rory and to all the members of this site. Much appreciated.
WirelessEye 0 Posted February 2, 2006 I hear Tranzeo works decent, but it is pretty pricey.
