wxman 0 Posted July 14, 2014 Does anyone here know if there are import duties that are taxed on CCTV camera systems that are imported into the U.S.? Specifically outdoor IP PTZ setups. I'm getting conflicting info as to whether or not there are import duties and what percentage those duties would be. Thanks!
catseyenu 0 Posted July 14, 2014 I got hit for $14.69 on a camera order, value listed at $390.00 US shipped through DHL. This may be a DHL thing, I have an e-packet shipment coming in 2 weeks and will find out if I get charged on it...
buellwinkle 0 Posted July 16, 2014 Import duties for importing cameras from China to the U.S. is 1.9%. Consider yourself lucky if you got away with it. Small orders tend to bypass this, but the larger the order, the larger the risk. Friend of mine was a federal customs agent, used to follow larger cargo to see who picks up the package without paying duties and arrest them, but this was large cargo, not a few cameras.
