Can anyone tell me what kind of wire runs to a standard PIR motion sensor?

You can use any type of wire between a camera and PIR. There are no special requirements.

How many leads? Two? Three? Four?

You need 2 conductors for power and 2 conductors for your dry contact.

I would run a 22/2 from the PIR to the camera and a 18/2 from the PIR to the power supply.

Is there an 18/4? I'm not running to a cam, just back to an alarm system panel.

Yes. You can buy 18/4.

It's not typically needed for a motion but it'll work fine.

You can probably find it at Home Depot or lowes.
