sf1964 0 Posted February 6, 2006 l recently focused a pan 474 dome in the actual lighting condition where it will be used,my question is when l put the dome cover on after focusing, the lens will see less light so will my focus be out,and how do l fix this?It is very dim light as it is,maybe l need a clear dome to allow the light in more!!Please correct me if l am wrong!! rory 0 Posted February 6, 2006 always use clear dome covers for day night apps .. otherwise you will loose sensitivity at night. As for focus, once you focus it in low light, it should be fine. The only time i would use anything but a clear cover is indoors with a ton of light, but then thats just me
Jasper 0 Posted February 6, 2006 If you need to buy replacement dome covers or want to buy some clear ones in his case, where do you get them from?
rory 0 Posted February 6, 2006 Depends on the manufacturer, I only buy domes now from Manufacturers who I can get boxes of replacement dome covers from, eg. Extreme CCTV / WizKid, and some OEMs. Because they can get scratched easily on some installations, or over time. Not all dome covers are the same fit, so it will generally be Manufacturer dependent. JMANOFNVS 0 Posted February 7, 2006 Most name brand like Panasonic sell both tinted and clear domes. They usually give you an option in the part # depending on manufacturer. A couple even give you both clear and smoked domes when you buy it. Toshibas new dome not only come with both but also has flush and surface mounting capabilities that come with it. jisaac 0 Posted February 7, 2006 focus it under very low light situations or get the domes cover and take the plastic out and then stick it up to the lens and it wont cover the whole casing. So that way you can still focus it and have the plastic covering the lens. Then just put the plastic back in the dome cover and screw it on. works for me
rory 0 Posted February 7, 2006 i think he means he has a tinted cover ..?
JMANOFNVS 0 Posted February 7, 2006 For the price of those domes you would think panasonic would have an external VF adj, external spot monitor out and come with both tinted and clear domes.
rory 0 Posted February 7, 2006 that, nah, how about a mini wireless link with a custom mini wireless LCD, so you dont even have to open it up . and just focus and adjust the camera view via OSD ... it would have a focus level like the Camera Master, so you dont even need to eyeball the focus . Jasper 0 Posted February 7, 2006 Keep dreaming. Sounds good though. I hope you got those domes at a good price to offset the price of new clear covers and tools to open the things up? Sounds like your earning your discount.
sf1964 0 Posted February 7, 2006 l got them opened up no problem,it would have been nice to have the bit though!!The dome covers still havent located yet but not a big deal as l still have a decent picture even in low light!!Yes the cameras were worth it LESS than half price retail!!!! cubby 0 Posted May 9, 2006 Try the new Pan Focus camera from Sanyo and the focus issues during the day and or night are solved. This camera never needs Focusing. It always in focus. This in NOT an AUTO focus camera. This is the best technology available right now for indoor and outdoor dome cameras.
