pipabix 0 Posted August 12, 2014 One 8 port with all 8poe? Reason I ask; I'll have min 8 cameras, An 8 port alone won't be enough when I need a PC connected 8 port Poe cost in Europe, €250 min for a good one. A lot more choice when going 8port (4 poe), cost €60-€80 As I'm just starting out, maybe go small, and a 8 port 4poe will do 4 cams. I'm looking at something like netgear http://www.hardwareversand.de/en/Printserver/107407/Netgear+ProSafe+8P+Gigabit+Switch+4xPoE.article
SSSlippy 0 Posted August 12, 2014 In my IDF spots I have had success with d-link DGS-1210-10P. 10 Ports all POE and vlan support.
mkkoskin 0 Posted August 13, 2014 Depends on your setup, but since most cheap poe-switches are only 100Mbps switch, i'd go with 2x 4+4 (8 port of which 4 poe) and one cheap 1Gbps switch that connects PC to both camera switches. http://www.tp-link.com/en/products/details/?model=TL-SF1008P (4+4poe, costs around 40-50$, we use this model on small ip camera networks) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833181229 (5port 1Gbps switch, 30$, just an example, we've used 8port model of this one) So in total its around 110-130$ for - 8x 100Mbps poe slots - 8x 100Mbps non-poe slots - 5x 1Gbps slots. If the traffic from cameras is very high, make sure the Gbps switch offers 1Gbps/port, not some total..

Some sites are short coming with information, ie what power out put per Poe or total even, whether it's 1gb per per or total. . Thanks anyway, I'll keep this in mind
dan732 0 Posted August 13, 2014 I would look at the Cisco SG300-10P a 10 port switch (8 POE - 2 non POE Ports) all gigabit as well Newegg has it for about $
