REP4507 0 Posted August 17, 2014 G-Day, Not exactly new to CCTV or surveillance alarm systems. Have run simple B+W to 1080 VHD systems with multilayered sensor systems. But I’m rusty. I've used mostly out of the box parts and followed the instructions. I've started some DIY work and need a bit of help so when I post a reply I want you to keep in mind that I'm from Australia where we use 240V AC. Thanks. Numb-nuts 1 Posted August 17, 2014 Ah well, someone has to be Australian don't they? Well what on earth possessed Australia to use 240V ac could it have been a legacy from the British? We are still managing very nicely with 240v AC Actually there are several Australian members on here too, so you are in good company. Most members opt for 12V DC or 24V AC reduced from the mains by regulated transformers. Probably because most of us aren't qualified electricians but capable with low voltage where the implications of working with low voltage aren't as potentially dangerous as with mains and at no cost to the final result. From your description of your level of skill, I don't think you'll have too much difficulty getting advice you can follow easily.
