cctv_down_under 0 Posted February 7, 2006 I have a site that has two buildings 300 meters apart, I would like to know any products that would allow me to have a line of sight ethernet connection that is reliable between these two points, as I will have a DVR in each site. How reliable is this process and what things can effect it, weather??? etc is there an advantage to running a trench, I have seen units that state they can do 30 miles, but I do not know what to believe? Cheers in advance!!
joe4 0 Posted February 7, 2006 Here is how to get 125 miles (world record) http://www.wifi-shootout.com So yes 300 meters is ok, but do not believe the 30 mile talk distance has more to do with line of sight and interference. Every location is deferent. Water has major effects on wifi, that is the problem with trees. It is not the density of wood but the fact they are full of water. I can only help you from a network standpoint, I am new to CCTV. www.wisp-router.com is a great vendor, the owner is very good. And helped make the Ikarus OS. www.defactowireless.com is also good, allot of WISP use them. www.wifi-plus.com have heard good things about there antenna. www.pacwireless.com very popular antenna
