adamxp12 0 Posted September 6, 2014 I have an issue with a camera in my system. It's a vista vandal dome and tests fine but when it is connected to the cat5 cable with baluns and such I get this horrible interference its nothing like any ground loop I have ever seen and no matter what I have tried it will not go away. The camera is powered by 24vac (I tried 12v and the issue was worse) and is on the same power supply as my ptz dome and that has no grounding issues I am using one pair for video and the other 3 pairs for power, no idea whats wrong here. This is my first camera using baluns and if it is some sort of issue involving the cat5 and baluns then it will be my last I have 3 other cameras using coax and never had an issue. Could anyone shed some light on what this is and how I could possibly stop it from happening. Thanks
shockwave199 0 Posted September 6, 2014 Hard to say exactly. You could try hooking it up to its own 24v power pack that plugs into the wall and see if that helps it. Could be a cheap balun. I always opt for good rg59 with proper connectors over balun.
the toss 0 Posted September 7, 2014 Check to see that you haven't got the pair reversed at one end
shockwave199 0 Posted September 7, 2014 The video pair right? For 24v power, polarity doesn't matter, no?
tomcctv 190 Posted September 7, 2014 Hi. Depends on what baluns ....... Can you post a picture Also if your going balun with power then that could also be your problem on cheap baluns with power 24v is a problem and also with amps. Like the toss says do you have them same at both ends. How long is the run?

The polarity is correct as when I reverse it the image goes away. Will get a pic of the baluns if that helps.
