Dahua NVR - unstable when one + cameras set to motion record

Recommended Posts

Dahua ESDV-NVRX-32 32 Channel NVR

I have 2 of these things, one has 20 assorted Hikvision cameras and is located offsite, I have another one here that has a few mixed Hikvision cameras and one Dahua 2MP PTZ.

Both systems run flawlessly if all of the cameras are set to record 24/7, but glitch/freeze/reboot if any camera(s) are set to motion-only.

I also don't notice the usual motion settings (area mask & sensitivity levels).

Any advice?

The only time I've seen something like this happen is when too many cameras are simultaneously being triggered to record on motion at once. It was also with a nearly identical DVR. In my case, there just wasn't enough processing power to handle so many cameras being triggered all at once.

As far as those motion settings not being present, they're usually found under the "Detect" section. If all of that is absent from the DVR, I would look for a new version of the firmware. I've never seen those missing before.
