Sony FCB-EX980S not responding to zoom buttons

Guys,

I just got a camera (Sony FCB-EX980S) with an interface board, turn it on, can see the video, but zoom buttons (WIDE/TELE) on the camera are not working. Can you advise what might be a reason? I didn't have a chance to connect camera to PC, but I suppose zoom buttons should work even without PC/PTZ control connected, is that correct?
