jeromephone 6 Posted February 12, 2006 Just had a demo on a new Panduit fiber termination tool and system. I was able to terminate a fiber in under 3 min. System really looks great. We do a fair amount of fiber in our company and have been using the 3m system which requires an oven an then hand polishing. I would appreciate some feedback if anyone has used this yet we have tried some other systems in the past and they did not work all that well.
griffonsystems 0 Posted February 15, 2006 ever use the 3m fiber splices? break the fiber with a cleve, clean and then connect with fibersplice without heating, polish, etc..
acableconnection 0 Posted May 29, 2007 the pre-polished fiber ends, produce the best test results. Im sure there is a ton of companys making these now, where you use there special cutter, and then just stick the fiber into the connector, crimp and your done. ddmundell 0 Posted December 17, 2007 You can't go wrong with Corning Unicam. Kit is kind of expensive but you said that you doo a fair ammount of fiber so it should pay off quick. Strip Cleve Insert bare fiber into connector in unicam tool Cam tool Crimp with tool Slide on strain releif and your done Unless the customer requires it I don't even hook up a power meter or OTDR. If it shines good light, your good to go.
