maorlevy 0 Posted October 3, 2014 Hi Everyone, I'm an IT guy, and I installed security cameras few times already. I'm looking for a recommendation for 16ch DVR with 8 outdoor/indoor high quality cameras. It's for a new client, and it will be used to secure two buildings and parking lot. I will be using Cat5e to pass video and power to cameras. Need quality cameras with night vision. The price range is $600-800. I saw the Samsung packages: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SDS-P5122-Channel-Surveillance-Security/dp/B00IXNY4B2/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1412301721&sr=8-8&keywords=samsung+security+camera+system Can I trust Q-See for that type of use? http://www.amazon.com/Q-See-QT5716-16E3-1-Channel-High-Resolution-Pre-Installed/dp/B00HUEH00W/ref=sr_1_10?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1412301782&sr=1-10 Thank you
captainvideo 0 Posted October 11, 2014 BEWARE OF THE "ALL IN ONE BOX" SYSTEMS ! I cant find the focal lenth of the cam's . I cant find a record rate of the dvr . I think you are setting yourself up for possible failure. i don't think that 12 of the same cam's would be a smart choice unless they are varifocal cam's . every camera location will have a different demand whether it be distance , backlight , weather , angle , location , vandals etc ... so 12 identical fixed bullet cams may limit your camera locations . the cables included with these systems are usually garbage too. you can get an 8 ch hd-cvi 1080p hi-def dvr with 2 or 3 hd-cvi 1080p cam's for your choke point(s) and 5 or 6 720p cams for quality general observation . take measurements from ideal mounting locations and use a fov (field of view) calculator to determine the correct mm lens needed then purchase the correct lens for the camera type(turret, dome, bullet). you will end up with a much better job and a much better system as well as staying close to budget and a happier customer .your customer will have a system that works instead of just having a system ! btw , cat 5e is not recommended for hd cvi. most quality 16 channel hd-sdi dvr's are over your budget but an 8 channel hd-cvi dvr in each building may fall under budget . securitybros 0 Posted October 12, 2014 Hello, You will get a decent system for $800 bucks, maybe not the best cameras quality wise but it totally depends on what you gonna use it for. The two system you linked to are both good enough for home surveillance. If you need better quality i would go for IP cameras instead, but it will cost you twice as much. Boogieman 1 Posted October 12, 2014 None of those systems are worth your time. Those are analog. You should be using ip cameras. You cannot get a system with high quality cameras for 800. Here are some decent all in one systems...and since they are from costco you can return them easy if you dont like them. http://www.costco.com/Q-See-16-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-3TB-HDD-and-9-3MP-HD-IP-Cameras.product.100123648.html http://www.costco.com/Q-See-8-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-6-1080p-Cameras.product.100129001.html Or build you own... http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2013-Hikvision-Original-infrared-gun-waterproof-network-camera-DS-2CD2032-I-3MP-IR-ip-camera-support/1397052584.html http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/2014-Hikvision-NVR-16CH-Plug-Play-8CH-PoE-Up-to-5MP-Onvif-Family-level-Network-video/638300_2052108539.html
TheRock598 0 Posted October 19, 2014 I have a LaView 8 ch with 4 cams system that got the 960h 1.3 mp 1000TVL and find the cams to be great. Check them out before you buy a system. I am very pleased with the night vision. You can get them without Hd which is great cause you can buy your preferred drive. like WD purple which is very reliable. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16881183043 Many other online sites sell them also. I have checked out many brands and found LaView to be better quality with the LV-CBA3213 cameras. I have installed several brands with similar specs (but not with 960h cam) for friends and none of them has the quality mine got. I am happy with my system. good luck
