Don Stephens 0 Posted October 15, 2014 As these are analog and not IP, if you don't have a DVR, you'll need to find another way to get the PTZ on your network if your end goal is to view and control via your smartphone. A DVR might be your easiest solution even if you don't want to record; just don't put a hard drive in and turn the recording off for all channels.
dan732 0 Posted October 16, 2014 I would not bother with any of those cameras, they are all old analog cameras None of them are High Definition by any standards, sure they sellers say they are, but they are not. I would look at a IP PTZ Camera, it would do what you want Look at this one for example http://www.ebay.com/itm/368X-Hikvision-Outdoor-IR-Night-Vision-High-Speed-PTZ-IP-Dome-True-D-N-DWDR-/151422891930?pt=US_Security_Cameras&hash=item234181f79a Has a built in SD card slot so you can save recordings to the camera, if needed, you can also use your iphone to view, how ever this model is not High Def http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-3MP-Hikvision-216X-True-WDR-D-N-High-Speed-IP-Network-PTZ-Speed-Dome-/251679277216?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a994100a0 1.3MP 720P version of the above PTZ camera Good luck
Don Stephens 0 Posted October 16, 2014 I would second the decision to just purchase an IP PTZ camera. Just about anything from Hikvision or Dahua is going to be a good choice. An IP camera would just make life a lot easier for you based on how I think you plan to use it.
Boogieman 1 Posted October 16, 2014 The first camera linked by dan732 is not an ip camera...just fyi...I agree that you should be looking for ip cameras. Dahua has some nice 2mp ip cameras in the 600 dollar range. Dahua SD59212S-HN 12x Zoom http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/sd59212s220s230s-hn-581.html Also, ask yourself do you really need ptz? are you going to set up sensors to ptz upon movement? Why not get two fixed cameras instead? What are you going to be monitoring? Whatever you do, if this is a new system, you should be using an IP camera that is at the very least 1.3mp...not any analog stuff that is generally rated using TVL... Actually that is an IP Camera Here is the spec sheet http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013051620571255270.pdf It just isn't High Definition, (520TVL 768x494) I did post a link to the High Definition of that camera for price comparison Not all IP Cameras are Megapixel cameras and not all analog cameras are rated in TVL
dan732 0 Posted October 17, 2014 Here is the user manual for that PTZ Camera as well http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013061416164597242.pdf
steve26 0 Posted October 21, 2014 Thank you very much for your replies. The reason i want cctv cameras is because I have to park a couple of cars on my front yard which is close to the footpath and recently i have had some damage to them caused by idiots which i would like to catch on video. but i have also wanted to add some security to my house because i run a small business and would like to make sure if someone would try to break in i would have some sort of evidence. Now on second thoughts I think a dome camera would be easier to fit under the eaves of our house like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/HIKVISION-3MP-Full-HD-1080p-Outdoor-WDR-IR-Night-Vision-IP-Dome-Camera-PoE-/360807792032?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item5401d1fda0 I know it is a Poe which is different to a PTz. but what is the difference? Can anyone recommend a DVR? I bought a cheap dvr a while a go to play with but i would like a better one. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271186657108?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 but i cannot connect and view with my android smart phone. what about this package? will this work for me?
