mstoetz1 0 Posted October 14, 2014 I found it very surprising that a new DAHUA NVR I just purchased appeared to be limited to 6 characters for user login names and password. The Q-See model I had previous (which I assume is built by DAHUA) allowed 8 characters. If these are linux based (?), has anyone figured out a way to set this username and password limitation to 8 characters? In this day and age, 6 characters is just a bit 90's. thanks M. Securame 0 Posted October 14, 2014 I think all Dahua's I have used have a 6 character limit. It sucks, but I got used to it...
dexterash 0 Posted October 20, 2014 If these are linux based (?), has anyone figured out a way to set this username and password limitation to 8 characters? Although they are Linux-based, the limit is in the recording application itself, not the Linux subsystem. I don't think you can change to 8 chars and nor do I see a reason for this - bruteforcing the passwords is a no-no, since the DVR will block the user after 3 failed login attempts.
