martin68 0 Posted October 14, 2014 I have decided to buy a HD-SDI DVR system, but before i go buying the camera cables, I have a 100m reel of 50 ohm coak cable which i bought many years ago for amateur radio aerials, will this type of coax be suitable for cctv? it's foil screened and fits into crimped bnc plugs perfectly. my maximum length run is around 15m. SunnyKim 2 Posted October 15, 2014 Any cables aim to be Ohm-Less. And 50 ohm could mean for impedance matching to balance off the signal for the receiving devices. Therefore, no meaning for cameras(TX) and DVR (RX), both designed, expecting 75 Ohm impedance matching. Why don't you try out before installing cable?
