Many thanks
Numb-nuts 1 Posted October 20, 2014 I would suggest at least one PTZ pan tilt and zoom camera for the vehicle and the others will probably be alright using static IR cameras. If you want it to bbe vakue for money I think you should get some installers to quote you. Throwing money away by doing it yourself is a mistake if you are easily confused. CCTV isn't that intersting to and end user usually, let a ppro get it rght so you can get on with your life.
Boogieman 1 Posted October 20, 2014 If you are not technical get someone to do it. Do not let them install an analog system. Make sure the system is IP and at least 1.3mp a camera.
Numb-nuts 1 Posted October 20, 2014 I would say don't disregard any platform until you've looked at them all and made an informed an guided decision. Some IP systems are nowhere near as good as the analogue 960H that I've installed recently. If it isn't installed correctly you won't get the benefit and some people have never seen a professionally installed and configured system so of course they can be forgiven for the assumption that IP is automatically better although definitions can are higher, we're not all looking for HD TV comparable images just to capture the neighborhood cat scratch its pencil sharpener..... Good hunting....

Good hunting.... You need to compare apples to apples. I dont care how good the installer is the 960h system will not produce as good as a picture as a 1.3mp camera...it cant. This is assuming the cameras are both good quality cams. The only installers who say look at analog are those that make more money installing analog or dont have the skill to install ip. Most also run rg59 which makes it more costly to upgrade in the future...
tomcctv 190 Posted October 21, 2014 Hi. Budget of £1.800 is a good budget you will get a good DAHUA NVR with 2mp cameras and a Dahua PTZ
JAMES ROFFEY 0 Posted October 22, 2014 Many thanks for the helpful info, i knew a forum would be a good place to get some unbiased ideas i could probably do it myself but will take the advice and at least get some quotes for installation i do think i need a much better camera out the front overlooking my van as sometimes have to park some way away where as the rear just overlook a garden shed and access to intruders is quite difficult so a cheaper fixed camera would suffice maybe one over front door too again a cheaper one i will let you know what they recommend and see what you think of the advice given. cheers

SensUp 0 Posted November 27, 2014 Everyone who knows 960H, knows that it is at best a marginal improvement. And anyone who knows better, knows that Samsung has raised the bar (or widened it), with their 1280H offering. Check out this truth-stretching techno-brawl on 1280H on this well known 'industry leading' ip camera site. SensUp 0 Posted November 28, 2014 The best home cctv to meet the following five (eight) conditions. 1. 2.To easily fixed - why, because too easily breaked? 3. 4.Software installation - And this had better be a 'real' software installation with substance. Not a sham install, designed only to satisfy this unusual requirement! 5. From a technical point of view, #6 home cctv resolution should be 640x480, #7 and the maximum frame rate to reach 30 or 25 accounts / sec. #8 Also, such a home cctv best support UPnP.
