JAMES ROFFEY 0 Posted October 18, 2014 I am looking to have some CCTV installed at my home i have a commercial vehicle that i leave outside my property in various places as i have no off street parking i want something that i can point to where my vehicle is parked i also want cameras situated at the rear and possibly the front door etc i have a budget of about £1800 i have been on various websites and the more i look at the more confused i get as to what would would be best so i am hoping you can point me in the right direction. Numb-nuts 1 Posted October 20, 2014 I would suggest at least one PTZ pan tilt and zoom camera for the vehicle and the others will probably be alright using static IR cameras. If you want it to bbe vakue for money I think you should get some installers to quote you. Throwing money away by doing it yourself is a mistake if you are easily confused. Numb-nuts 1 Posted October 20, 2014 I would say don't disregard any platform until you've looked at them all and made an informed an guided decision. Some IP systems are nowhere near as good as the analogue 960H that I've installed recently. If it isn't installed correctly you won't get the benefit and some people have never seen a professionally installed and configured system so of course they can be forgiven for the assumption that IP is automatically better although definitions can are higher, we're not all looking for HD TV comparable images just to capture the neighborhood cat scratch its pencil sharpener..... Good hunting.... You need to compare apples to apples. I dont care how good the installer is the 960h system will not produce as good as a picture as a 1.3mp camera...it cant. This is assuming the cameras are both good quality cams. The only installers who say look at analog are those that make more money installing analog or dont have the skill to install ip. JAMES ROFFEY 0 Posted October 22, 2014 Many thanks for the helpful info, i knew a forum would be a good place to get some unbiased ideas i could probably do it myself but will take the advice and at least get some quotes for installation i do think i need a much better camera out the front overlooking my van as sometimes have to park some way away where as the rear just overlook a garden shed and access to intruders is quite difficult so a cheaper fixed camera would suffice maybe one over front door too again a cheaper one i will let you know what they recommend and see what you think of the advice given. cheers Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
