jpatz18 0 Posted October 19, 2014 So im recently changing over to IP from analog. What will i need i want to run 8 cameras. I know i have to run cat 5. The cameras are wired not wireless. cavcom 0 Posted October 20, 2014 Your gonna need a switch that supports POE to power your cameras, or buy a NVR that has that built in. Hikvision makes one. Boogieman 1 Posted October 20, 2014 Which camera are you looking at, what nvr are you looking at?...most good cameras support POE. Some do not. You should get cameras that support poe. Tell us which cams and how many and we can recommend a poe switch. Do not get no name crappy cameras or you will just be back complaining of problems..
