zeoxeo 0 Posted November 3, 2014 Hello all! A few years ago I had some drunks at my door doing some questionable things early in the morning. Ever since then I've wanted to install a few security cameras. Placing the cameras won't be too hard, I know right where I want them, BUT, I'm having a hard time finding cameras that fit my criteria (probably due to a lack of knowing where to look) So, my question to you all is, what camera(s) should I be looking at? I want something concealable (probably going to put it in a bird box along my fence) I need something that's got decent night vision, about 30 yards would work well. It has to be able to stand up to -50f degree temperatures outdoors. It would also be great if it had a live feed I could view anywhere from a computer or smart phone. And a really great feature would be a short backup battery for when we lose power during winter snow storms and summer thunder storms. What kind of products am I looking at? Thanks for your help everybody! -Alex

zeoxeo 0 Posted November 3, 2014 The bird box will be about 30 meters from my door(rough estimate). I'd like to set up two cameras. I suppose I'd prefer to spend <$100 but I'd be willing to go up to 175 per camera if there's something perfect in that range for my preferred specs.

I would go with Hikvision's new HD-TVI stuff and a DVR. Quality is excellent for the price. How large is the bird box? You should be able to get a plain old bullet camera right up to the hole.
