zhiyi_ze 0 Posted February 16, 2006 What would be the best solution to install a surveillance system in an elevator(12-storey apartment)? Can a wireless transmission work efficiently?
rapid 0 Posted February 16, 2006 Wireless is not a good idea, there can be lots of EMI/RFI noise such as elevator motors which will give you grief. Haven't done any elevator work, however using Unshielded Twisted Pair would work...should be a spare pair of wires (from emergency phone) and you could use a balun for the video. Might have to get the elevator service company involved if there are regulations in your area.
robzee67 0 Posted February 16, 2006 After 1978 or so, buiding codes or elevator code i should say demand to have atleast two twisted pair in the elevator, one for the phone and one extra spair. before you go in the shaft, you need to be certified and licensed to go there. Find who is the elevator company, call them and tell them what your doing. they will charge the building owner.. have them put an outlet for your camera,...hook up balun to the cam, run upstairs find the spair, hook up another twisted pair, run it down to the balun at the DVR..voila! zhiyi_ze 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Does the twisted pair demand applies on every elevator company or they have the rights not to go according to the building codes?
robzee67 0 Posted February 19, 2006 you can do what you want but if you were the last one in the shaft and something goes wrong, you would be liable...and probably get fine from the state...
tcssystem 0 Posted July 18, 2006 most of the elevator has a spare cable. Just get a converter and use their elevator flexible cable. one converter locate in the evalator and another one locate on the motor side. from motor site you are able to pull RG to anyway. if signal weak, just get a booster will do. kensplace 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Cover your back, get the elevator company to install the cabling, or to recommend what cabling to use, then you just need to plug the stuff in....
