spacemusicgeek 0 Posted November 8, 2014 I've been trying to find a CCTV night-time camera for use to image deep-space astro objects as well as meteors. The only one I could find is the Water 902 H2 Ultimate. Is there another one that I could use that would be better ? My price range is $200 ~$400, although I could go up to $1000 if there are significant imaging advantages

survtech 0 Posted November 12, 2014 CCTV cameras are typically not well-suited to astrophotography. You need long shutter times to capture enough light for suitable images and CCTV cameras have faster shutter speeds. OPT Astropix Orion Typically, digital SLR cameras are used since many can be programmed for very long exposure times.

I know this doesn't help really for the actual use and price range you are looking for but because you are interested in astronomy i thought i'd share this image that was taken with an Avigilon 16MP camera and 800mm lens of the moon. http://imgur.com/ZpQi2VG,546O5K9,ecmrkin#

danielsimoons 0 Posted November 13, 2014 Before you buy anything specifically, Please consider what kind of pictures you do want to take, A deep sky or scenic, anything like that. If you want to take snapshots because you're referring to astrophotography then an inexpensive dsc would help.
