Some use proprietary, some use standard mp3 container (h264) that can be played in any player without conversion. For example Dahua use *.dat where you have to convert to avi.. but isn't it avi is low quality so would there be further degrading or limit in the conversion? Jovision which I own but doesn't have alarm outputs use *.mp3 that can be played directly in any players. What about Hikvision? Geovision? Axis and others? What file formats did they use? What are the advantage and disadvantage of different file formats. I need to get a second nvr to take advantage of alarm outputs so may as well not missed out the file format feature and advantage.
