Cooperman 0 Posted February 24, 2006 For one dreadful moment, I thought I'd suddenly woken up from a very long sleep .... about twenty years at least If you think the information looks familier (I did), have a look at this one:- http://www.cctv-information.co.uk/cgi-bin/index.cgi?url=http://www.cctv-information.co.uk/constant2/introctv.html A useful site, but certainly not the most informative (IMHO) If you're bored, you could also have a look at this one:- http://www.techstore.ie/hometech/Closed-Circuit-television/
rory 0 Posted February 24, 2006 i think we could do a sticky for CCTV tutorials on the web, but no links to web shops please ... post the tutorial links here then ill gather them up.
Jasper 0 Posted February 24, 2006 The intent was good, just the content was very basic. It was a good gesture. I'd like to see some advanced stuff; like the differences of each camera chip type described down to almost the molecular level. Really, anything more than what I don't know already, which is a lot. The more I learn, the more I realize I have much to learn. Of course that is always the case. Forever a student of learning.
rory 0 Posted February 24, 2006 we need a CCTV version of this VB Programming resource ... It takes that you already know programming, but gives you some really good tips. http://www.aivosto.com/resources.html
Jasper 0 Posted February 24, 2006 You mean for like using protocols for PTZ cameras or what? Whatcha talkin bout Willis! (Rory) Oh I see, tips on programming in general. I missed the link the first time around. I would brush up on my "C" before doing that and you know how this is going, nowhere. I am waiting for the "5th generation language" where you can talk into a compiler and tell it what you want it to do and it generates the code and compiles it for you. I wonder how many more years before that is avaiable?

Unfortunately I can't help breaking out in a cold sweat every time I see a written reference to a 'Pye Observation System'. Also, line powered cameras were quite popular in the early '80's, but hardly ever used these days (shame really). I don't know about the "5th generation language"; I'm still trying to wrap my poor old grey cells around BASIC
