TremorPV 1 Posted November 26, 2014 Hi, I recently bought two of these cameras: http://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2132-I-Fixed-Focal-Camera/dp/B00EJXK0I6 . Here are the specs: Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I 3MP Dome Camera 3MP (2048 x 1536) high resolution Full HD1080p real-time video Up to 30m IR True day/night IP66• Vandal-proof It supports PoE. Here's a video showing it's installation using PoE: My Router does not support PoE, so I used these PoE Injectors to add PoE to the Ethernet cable: http://www.amazon.com/Ubiquiti-Poe-15-Output-Ethernet-Adapter/dp/B002R7JPGE I would think my units were broken/defunct, but getting two that don't work at the same time is very unlikely, I would think. The distance is <100 feet (about 50-70 feet), and I'm using Cat 6A, so I doubt it's distance related. It crosses some electrical lines, but never runs parallel to them closely. I used a network tester to verify that the cables are crimped correctly and that PoE was indeed being added to the line. Everything checks out. However, my problem is that these cameras do not turn on. They do not appear on my network. It's almost like the PoE Injector just destroys the connection, and adds PoE to the Ethernet cable leaving nothing left. I haven't dealt with PoE at all before this, so I may not be understanding how it works. What could my issue be? What should I check? Are my PoE Injectors incompatible with this setup? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Tremor.
Boogieman 1 Posted November 26, 2014 You have purchased the wrong injectors...those are specific to ubiquiti...they are not true poe standard 802.3af compliant..they will not work with your cameras at all..return them asap.. If you want injectors get these injectors (select injector not splitter or kit) http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-PoE150S-Gigabit-Injector-compliant/dp/B001PS9E5I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416977530&sr=8-1&keywords=poe+injector or you could just buy a poe switch, this one will power 4 cameras (the other 4 ports are not poe, just standard ports) http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1416977620&sr=1-1&keywords=poe+switch&pebp=1416977653577

Buy a real POE injector, or a small POE switch.
joanlee199063 0 Posted November 29, 2014 hi, there`s a few points it may concern: 1. the PSE is not standard IEEE802.3af/at 2. some of the PSE is powered by pin1.2.3.6(ALT-A); others, 4.5.7.8. (ALT-B) this may be the key point coz you tested that power`s on cable. hope it will help you.

The pin configurations is not the issue, its the IEEE802.3af compliance...also the unit only outputs 15v which would not be enough for long runs..dont give this guy any ideas to mess with changing pins..these units simply will not work,...he needs to buy the right injector.. TremorPV 1 Posted December 11, 2014 You guys are awesome. Thank you very much. You have purchased the wrong injectors...those are specific to ubiquiti...they are not true poe standard 802.3af compliant..they will not work with your cameras at all..return them asap..If you want injectors get these injectors (select injector not splitter or kit) http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-PoE150S-Gigabit-Injector-compliant/dp/B001PS9E5I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416977530&sr=8-1&keywords=poe+injector or you could just buy a poe switch, this one will power 4 cameras (the other 4 ports are not poe, just standard ports) http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-SF1008P-100Mbps-8-Port-802-3af/dp/B003CFATT2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1416977620&sr=1-1&keywords=poe+switch&pebp=1416977653577 I figured the Ubiquiti being unique to their equipment was the issue after reading a lot about their stuff. Thanks for the suggestion. Those look great. Question: The cameras will be recording 1080p in H.264 compression. Will the PoE router you listed handle that? I imagine 100 Mb/s (12.5MB/s) is enough considering their PDF (http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013102202272629895.pdf) says the bitrate is 32 Kbps ~ 16 Mbps. Just making sure (since I already messed up once just by reading stuff). LOL, you already got a reply, but when I checked the link the first thing I thought was "wtf has he purchased!?" Buy a real POE injector, or a small POE switch. Lol yeah. Just found them and figured they'd work. Didn't realize they were proprietary. Thanks. hi, there`s a few points it may concern: 1. the PSE is not standard IEEE802.3af/at 2. some of the PSE is powered by pin1.2.3.6(ALT-A); others, 4.5.7.8. Yeah, I probably won't mess with the pins. The distance is around 30-40 meters (guesstimation). Since CAT 6A has a distance of 100m+, I figured it would work fine. As far as I can tell, there's no interference, and my signal tester shows that the PoE is making it from one end to the other with a strong signal (it doesn't give wattage, amperage or voltage, just a light). cga 1 Posted December 3, 2022 Hi I just got a Hikvision camera DS-2CD2387G2-LSU/SL and I have connected using a TP-Link injector and when I look at my ASUS router it shows the port the injector is connected to as 'connection can be improved in orange' if I connect the camera to a switch I don't get this message and the port shows in green Just wondering if the injector is faulty after having it for so many years Also I would like to know if is there any difference between the using the injector or using the switch? I found the answer myself, the PoE injector I have is not Gigabite capable, it's only 100 mb and My ASUS router LAN port is 1gb I probably need to get a Gigabite Poe Injector although no single IP camera will use more than the 100Mbps capability of this injector Correct me if I'm wrong Thank you
CiroIp 0 Posted December 15, 2022 I think you're right. I believe there is no point in trying to shield the user from technical stats and dumb down feedback like that. I'm shopping for a PoE camera myself; did the TL-PoE150S come with a power supply? I'm thinking to just get the switch that should already have a 60W power supply.https://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-Compliant-Shielded-Optimization-TL-SG1005P/dp/B076HZFY3F/ref=sr_1_5?crid=LQRIZSU6AAEN&keywords=poe%2Bswitch&qid=1671131604&s=electronics&sprefix=poe%2Bswitch%2Celectronics%2C131&sr=1-5&th=
