Looking for fisheye/panoramic camera + software

Recommended Posts

I am trying to put together a surveillance system for my home, which is on the corner of the street. I am looking for a panoramic or fisheye camera that can record 360 degrees at once, so they can cover the sides of my house and cars on the street simultaneously.

I was looking at a Geovision camera, but it's Windows-based, and I want to avoid Microsoft technologies at all costs. (I'm a software developer and hate the company on principle.)

Can anyone recommend a Linux or (ideally) mac-based camera-software combination?

What is the night-time lighting like?

Do you have street lamps or motion lamps?

Most 360 degree/fisheye lens cameras are terrible in low light conditions, so you will need some external lighting for sure.

Hikvision has a new fisheye camera with built in IR.

Have not tested this model yet..

Your best option is mounting a minimum of 2 low light dome cameras to cover that corner effectively.
