FerrisBueller 0 Posted November 30, 2014 I am trying to put together a surveillance system for my home, which is on the corner of the street. I am looking for a panoramic or fisheye camera that can record 360 degrees at once, so they can cover the sides of my house and cars on the street simultaneously. I was looking at a Geovision camera, but it's Windows-based, and I want to avoid Microsoft technologies at all costs. (I'm a software developer and hate the company on principle.) Can anyone recommend a Linux or (ideally) mac-based camera-software combination?
myiicu 0 Posted December 2, 2014 What is the night-time lighting like? Do you have street lamps or motion lamps? Most 360 degree/fisheye lens cameras are terrible in low light conditions, so you will need some external lighting for sure. Hikvision has a new fisheye camera with built in IR. http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/products.asp?cid=270514 http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2014061108302335283.pdf Have not tested this model yet.. Your best option is mounting a minimum of 2 low light dome cameras to cover that corner effectively.
FerrisBueller 0 Posted December 2, 2014 There's a street light on the corner, and a motion light on the opposite side of the house. I'll check out those cameras, thank you.
