midilandq 0 Posted December 10, 2014 Hi everyone, I am completely new to video surveillance cameras and electrical work in general so please bare with me. I recently bought a '8CH Channel H.264 Network Surveillance Security DVR 700TVL' and it came with wires that are much too short. I also bough a RG59 Siamese cable hoping to extend both the power and BNC. My question is, what is the best and safest way to extend the 12volt DC power? Thanks! Billy_ICU 0 Posted December 10, 2014 If you are not an "electrical type", power the camera at its location and use an extension cord for power to the AC adapter. You can get extra AC adapters, just be sure the "amperage" (mA) is enough to power each camera. For myself, I just add a length of wire and solder the connections. I also use a multimeter to test the AC adapter wires as to which is + and - as well as the wire going to the camera. Or I may power all cameras and DVR from one battery back-up power supply.
